The best way to see London

Learn the best way to see London from Cory and his top recommendations for pubs, shopping, food, and football.

London is one of our favorite cities in the world. Checking so many sights off our bucket list when we visit is amazing, but that isn't what makes it the city we plan to visit next year and the year after that…and the year after that…(you get it). Yes, we love visiting Buckingham Palace. And you obviously have to take a pic of Tower Bridge (great for the gram). But then after you visit the “must-see” sights, the best way to see London is to get lost in the cracks of it. After countless hours doing just that, here are our top recommendations for pubs, shopping, food, and football in London.

Pubs

Are you busy looking for that Instagram highlight spot but desperately need a pint as well? Churchill Arms in the Kensington neighborhood is the place to go! It’s exterior is completely covered in flowers, leaving you in an admirable daze before even stepping inside! Dare we say photo op? We think YES! To top off your experience, the bar is filled with a 1940’s setting complete with fitting furniture, antiques and artwork. This location is a very laid-back spot and a great option to go for a casual beer and engage in conversations with the local.

In addition to the vintage vibes, another must-see bar is The Lawn, located right next to Tower Bridge. They promote all different brews from around the world, so all of you brew-enthusiasts, gather ‘round! This is the perfect spot to grab a seat, take in the sights and sounds, and people watch! Do take note, this spot is seasonal, so make sure to plan accordingly when going.

Shopping

One of the most unique places we've ever been to is Camden Market located in the Camden Neighborhood. The best way to describe this place is weirdly amazing. You can literally find anything here from vintage clothing to incredible local art to your favorite rock vinyl.

Take all the time you want exploring the never-ending routes of tunnels holding limitless shops and be sure to grab some grub! Indulge in Dutch pancakes, ice cream or even Yorkshire burritos (we’ve had one of these babies - couldn’t tell you what’s in it but man is it good!)

Another cool thing about Camden Market is FEST Camden, an all year, all day party space that doesn't disappoint if you’re looking for a good time!

Food

One of our favorite restaurants in the history of the universe is Kricket in the SoHo neighborhood of London, only a minute walk from Piccadilly Circus, serving up Indian style tapas and inspired cocktails. Sit at one of their long tables great for group outings or along the counter. To keep things exciting, their menu is constantly changing, keeping your taste buds guessing what’s next and it always leaves you wanting to go back!

If you’re looking for freshly made lunches to order, we highly suggest checking out Borough Market! Easily accessible from the Tower Bridge’s underground stop across the street, this market offers everything from baked goods, seafood, home decor or even a quick haircut! Even if you’re on a no-spend budget, this spot is simply an ideal afternoon walk, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells. Strike up a conversation over a cup of tea, learn a recipe from one of the vendors, or take a nice pic as a keepsake.

Football

No not American Football lol. If you love to watch quality football, the city is full of it! London alone has 5 teams in the English Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and Arsenal F.C. make up North London, Chelsea F.C.controls West London, West Ham United F.C. in the east, and Crystal Palace F.C. in the south. Be sure to catch a London Derby - a match where two teams from London play each other. We suggest the North London Derby between Spurs (Tottenham) and the Gunners (Arsenal). Even if there isn’t a derby scheduled while you’re there, head into a pub, grab a pint and embrace the passion that is English football fandom. There is absolutely nothing like it and the people are absolutely incredible to talk to, just make sure you support the team they do!

London is an abundant city and you won't be able to conquer it all in one visit. They know how to keep you coming back to explore and discover. You’ll leave wanting to learn something new, see something different, try a unique eating spot, the adventures are endless! Londoners will continue to welcome you with open arms and there is always something happening in the city whenever you're there.

Cheerio!
